Different types of mental disorders

In the present time there are ample people who are suffering from different types of mental problems. This is all due to different type of situations. Sometimes hectic lifestyles, loneliness and other issues led to mental problems. This type of problems may lead to many fatal issues. It must be overcome at any cost. Otherwise it can be a dangerous one.

Overview of mental problems:

It can be rightly said in this connection that mental health treatment is quite famous and problem these days. There are ample ways to curb it. Now let’s have a look at the different sets of treatment.

  • Psychotherapy is the therapeutic treatment of mental illness provided by a trained mental health professional.  This type of treatment mainly explores thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, and seeks to improve an individual’s well-being. It highlights mainly on the behaviour of an individual.  Psychotherapy paired with medication is the most effective way to promote recovery.  Examples include: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Exposure Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, etc.
  • Secondly medication does not outright cure mental illness.  However, it helps with the management of ample symptoms.  Medication along with psychotherapy is thought to be the most effective way in order to promote speedy recovery of an individual.
  • Case management coordinates services for an individual with the help of a case manager.  A case manager may help or assist you with the plan, and implement of a number of strategies to facilitate early recovery.
  • In fact hospitalisation in a minority of cases, hospitalization may be necessary so that an individual can be closely monitored, accurately diagnosed or have medications adjusted when his or her mental illness temporarily worsens.
  • There are a lot of support group where members guide each other towards the shared goal of recovery.  Support groups are basically made of non professionals, but with experienced people who have suffered from similar type of experiences.
  •  On the other hand Complementary & Alternative Medicine, or CAM, refers to treatment and practices that are not typically associated with standard care.   This type of medicines may be used in place of or addition to traditional type of health practices.
  • Besides this a self-help plan is a unique health plan where an individual addresses his or her condition by implementing strategies that promote wellness.  Self-help plans may include addressing wellness, recovery, and different type of warning signals.
  • Peer Support usually refers to receiving assistance from individuals who have gone through the same phase. There are also art therapies that are found to very helpful in treating people with mental disabilities.

On the other hand electroconvulsive therapy is a process that is extensively used in modern times. It is also a very effective tool. It is found to be very helpful for those who are suffering from immense health problems. The treatment is generally administered in the morning, before breakfast.  Prior to the actual treatment, the patient is given general anaesthesia and a muscle relaxant. This Type of mental health treatment is usually repeated three times a week for approximately one month.  The number of treatments varies from six to twelve.  It is often recommended that the patient maintain a stage of medication, after the Electroconvulsive treatments in order to reduce the chance of relapse to a great extent.
